Wotton Area Mutual Aid
Wotton Area Mutual Aid (WAMA) is a network of local volunteers helping to organise mutual aid during the Covid-19 outbreak in the Wotton area. If you need help during the lockdown, WAMA can find a volunteer to support you.
I need some help
From picking up your shopping (or prescription) to phoning you for a chat, WAMA volunteers are here to help. They won't be able to come into your home, but are able to support you whilst maintaining 'social distancing'.
I need help getting prescriptions
Our small team of prescription volunteers are here if you need help ordering and picking up prescriptions. Simply fill in the form and a volunteer will be in touch.
I'd like to volunteer
WAMA relies on volunteers to support anyone who needs help during the COVID-19 restrictions. Tasks vary from picking up shopping and prescriptions to making telephone calls or delivering essential supplies.
WAMA is also able to offer a free box of essential groceries, free soup and further support and links to anyone who needs them.
WAMA is able to deliver a free box of essential groceries to anyone who is finding it hard to make ends meet at this difficult time. There's no need for a referral. Just request a box and our WAMA volunteers will be in touch.
A free soup kitchen is available on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9am - midday. Call 01453 844726 (only on Weds and Thurs). WAMA volunteers will take your details and deliver your soup to you.
Local support organisations
Could you help sew gowns and laundry bags for key workers?
We have received requests for volunteers to sew gowns and laundry bags for local key workers. Could you - or someone you know - help do this?
Areas we cover
Wotton Area Mutual Aid (WAMA) was set up to cover Wotton-under-Edge and its surrounding villages, based on the areas supported by the two GP surgeries in the town.
Some villages have their own support groups but WAMA does respond to all requests that come directly to us.
Areas covered are indicated within the map alongside this and include: Wotton, Charfield, Wickwar, Hillesley, Hawkesbury, Cromhall, Tortworth, Tresham, North Nibley, Ozleworth, Bowcott, Whiteway and Stancombe.
